We can teach the Bible to a secondary student.
For a year.
For just $4 !

Help us to teach many more...

Bible Knowledge is an optional subject in ALL Tanzanian secondary schools, along with Islamic Studies. But it's only taught in about 5% of schools, because they can't afford the teaching materials. We provide FREE teaching materials to participating schools, and help teachers to use them.

We're teaching Bible Knowledge in about 160 schools. There are over 5,000 secondary schools in Tanzania! Help us to reach more of them.

  • $20  will pay for 5 students doing Bible Knowledge (BK) for a year.
  • $200  will pay for a small school teaching BK for a year.
  • $2,000  will pay for a cluster of schools teaching BK for a year
We provide

Materials, Training and Coordination

That’s all it takes to help committed teachers to teach BK.

Student Text Books

While BK is an official school subject, no text books existed for it apart from the Bible, and few schools could afford Bibles. We wrote BK text books for Forms 1 to 4 covering the whole syllabus, and included corresponding Good News Bible books (with permission).

Teaching Kit & Training

Our BK text books have all the lessons, which save teachers hours of preparation. We also give teachers a syllabus, Bible, BK teaching guide, and answers to the exercises. These are the basis of our BK seminars for teachers. Without such support, many interested teachers could not teach BK (they must find time to do it on top of teaching their allocated core subjects).

Coordination

While BK is taught independently in some schools using our materials (which is great), we coordinate and support the GROWTH of BK teaching by promoting it to schools, delivering teaching materials, arranging seminars for teachers, liaising with government officials etc.

Testimonials

Bishop of Kagera

"I ask that you convey our greetings to those who donate for the Bible Knowledge ministry in our Diocese. We pray for them and ask the Lord to bless them so that they may prosper and help many. We believe that this ministry is important because we reach out to many and give them an opportunity to read the Bible and to find the treasures it contains." The Rt Rev Darlington Bendankeha, Bishop of Kagera, Anglican Church of Tanzania. (Translated from Swahili, email 17 Oct 2019.)

Bible Knowledge Student

"I met Jesus in my life through reading God's words... Bible Knowledge helps me in many activities such as: encourages me when I am disappointed, builds faith in me, widens my knowledge on different things such as world's life. I have enjoyed a lot of things while studying Bible Knowledge." Edina Aleluya Charles, Form 4, Mchungaji Mwema Secondary School, Sep 2019.

Just $4 per student per year

A typical participating school has 67 students doing BK across forms 1 to 4.  We provide:

  • text books ($240 every 6 years = $40 pa)
  • BK teaching kit and training for a teacher (about $80 pa), and
  • coordination (about $130 pa per school).

That’s $250 pa per school, or under $4 per student per year of BK teaching!

Note: This is for most of our schools, where BK is taught by government teachers. In some of our original schools BK is still taught by pastors, who are reimbursed travel costs to/from school.

It's incredibly cost-effective!
